Hi, my name is Jason Caro and, as you can see, I love cake.

I also love the cinema, TV, games, the internet, DVDs, music, gadgets. The whole kaleidoscope of entertainment and lifestyle options.
Which is why, a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away – well, 1997 in London – I embarked on a career in print journalism working as a Production Assistant on Film Review (Britain's longest running movie magazine, no less).

Having risen to the heady heights of Assistant Editor, I decided freelance journalism was the path for me and departed. Through a well timed series of lucky breaks, I ended up supplementing my writing income as Cinema Editor of the now deceased What's On in London and as a Sub Editor on the still-doing-rather-well Radio Times.

Meanwhile I was contributing film/TV reviews, previews and features to all of the above, plus Ultimate DVD, Xposé, Starburst, Cult Times and Dreamwatch. This was still a while before the internet and the economy would create, as publishing execs would say, 'challenging market conditions' for the magazine industry.

Fast forward to 2004 and, due to some unfortunate personal stuff, I returned to my hometown of Cardiff. Deciding that the uncertainty of a freelance career was no longer for me, I took a trio of unrewarding and uncreative office jobs. In 2006, I found myself offered some work for a new entertainment magazine called The Works and left my full time job later that year to focus on writing again.

To bring this monologue to its conclusion, I got a fair amount of varied paid work for magazines and websites (see 'Links') until mid 2008, when freelancing seemed to become as profitable as investing in the stock market.

Faced with limited paid work, I have decided to make the most of my skills, knowledge and humorousness by publishing work myself online.
In time, I hope this blatant self promotion will lead to bigger, better things, or, at least, a source of income via advertising, sponsorship or some brilliant strategy I have yet to envisage.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy the forthcoming entertainment and lifestyle reviews and features.
